Recipe From a Craving, a Photo, or a Link: How Lecker's AI Recipe Generator Works
5 min read
Most "AI recipe" apps do one trick: you type a few ingredients, it spits out a recipe, and you're on your own for the nutrition math. Lecker works backwards from that. Every recipe it generates — no matter how you start it — is built around a calorie and macro target you control, and rebalanced (not just estimated) to hit it.
There are four ways to start, and they're built for four different moods: you know roughly what you want, you have ingredients but no plan, you found a recipe online, or you have no idea and want the AI to decide.
1. Describe — recipe from a craving
Type (or dictate) whatever's in your head — "something with chicken and rice, a bit spicy", or just "pad thai". Add as much or as little detail as you want. Lecker turns it into a full recipe: ingredients, amounts, and step-by-step method, built to your servings and calorie-per-serving target.
2. Snap or scan — recipe from a photo
Point your camera at what you actually have — the inside of your fridge, a few things on the counter — and Lecker reads the ingredients from the photo and turns them into a recipe. It's the fastest way to answer "what can I make with this" without typing a grocery list from memory.
3. Paste a link — recipe URL to nutrition
Found a recipe on a blog, a recipe site, or a friend's share? Paste the URL. Lecker fetches the page, reads the ingredients and method, and rebuilds it — with full nutrition worked out per serving, and rebalanced to your targets. If a page can't be read automatically (some sites block it), Lecker offers to open it in-app so you can clip the recipe directly off the page instead of hitting a dead end.
4. Surprise me — when you don't want to decide
Pick how much time you have and how you want to cook (one pot, oven, no-cook, max 4 ingredients, or no preference), and Lecker suggests a dish and expands it into a full recipe, sized to your calorie target. No craving required.
The part that makes all four different: macro rebalancing
A recipe from any of these four paths isn't just "here's some food that roughly matches." Lecker checks the result against your eating style — Balanced, High Protein, Lower Carb, or a Custom split you set yourself — and adjusts portions, swaps, and add-ons to land inside that style's band. That's the difference between a generic AI recipe generator and a personalized one: the recipe changes to fit you, not the other way around.
If a dish naturally can't hit your bands — say the batter would get too runny if the flour dropped further — Lecker tells you honestly instead of pretending, and suggests what to change instead.
Everything stays editable
- Lock an ingredient's amount and Lecker rebalances everything else around it.
- Swap or remove an ingredient and it re-runs the macro math.
- Undo any change and go back a step.
- Adjust servings and calories-per-serving with sliders, any time, even after the recipe exists.
Four ways in, one promise out: a recipe that actually fits your goals, not just your pantry.
Whether you're staring at a craving, a fridge, a link, or nothing at all, Lecker turns it into a healthy recipe built around the numbers that matter to you — not a generic AI recipe generator's best guess.
